St Joseph's & St Gregory's
Catholic Primary School

Dear Parents/carers,

As your child is in Year 6 they are now entitled to return to school. You have previously received information about this and been directed to our Infection Control Policy on the school website. Now we would like to share the details of how the return to school will work.

If you wish to send your child to school, we must receive an email or phone call 48 hours before you wish them to start, so we can organise the correct number of staff. If we do not hear from you, we will assume you do not want their place at this time. If you change your mind in the coming weeks, please email or telephone the school, again with 48 hours’ notice, so we can be properly prepared.

Your child can return to school from Thursday 4th June 2020. Their school day will start and finish at the allocated times shown below. They must arrive on the Upper Primary Site playground no earlier than 10 minutes before they are due to start. Anyone who arrives later than their allocated time, may not be able to enter the building or will need to wait until it is safe to do so. There will be staff present. At the end of the day children will be directed to leave the grounds as quickly and safely as is possible.

The children must wash their hands before they enter and exit the building. If you are with your child, please help them to do this efficiently. Otherwise staff will be close by to offer support.

If your child is entitled to Free School Meals, we will provide this for them. The meals must be ordered in advance using the online order form sent to your email account, so we know exactly how many to provide. Similarly if your child pays for their school meal and you wish for us to provide dinner for them, please order and pay in advance using our online system. If you can only pay in cash please put in a labelled envelope and post in the box outside the school office. As well as the usual hot meal option, we will be offering Year 6 children baguettes filled with either ham, tuna or cheese. This will enable all children to eat outside should they wish to. The children will be supervised during their lunch break, and should the weather not permit eating outside, they will be able to eat inside, in a safe and controlled way.

We look forward to seeing your child wearing school uniform, please see our school website for more information on the summer uniform. P.E kits should be brought to school on their first day of return and remain in school. Similarly water bottles should come to school at the start of their return and only be taken home at weekends, this will help to stop transmission of the virus. Due to this we also ask that children to do not bring pencil cases, bags or books with them- we will provide all learning materials that they require.

If you have any further queries, please make contact via email or telephone and we will try our best to respond as soon as is possible.
