Flu Immunisations

Return Forms by 14th November

Flu immunisation forms have been sent home recently to YR through to Y6 . There is the option to opt in or out of this service. Please remember to complete and return the form to school before Nov 14th as the Immunisation & Vaccination Team are unable to vaccinate any child at the pre-planned school session who hands their form in after the cut-off date.

Please take a look at the short video link below to see what will happen at the immunisation session.

From: The NHS Immunisation Team

We have had a number of parents ring our office to inform us that their schools are advising to get in contact with their GP, when their child has missed their flu nasal spray in school. Unfortunately, the GP surgeries are not commissioned to give the flu nasal spray to children who fall in to the primary school age remit (children born on 1st September 2008 up until 31st August 2015). The GPs will only vaccinate those children who fall in to a clinical at risk group (e.g. asthmatic or immuno-compromised).

As this is a service provided by our team, we will give children whom were not vaccinated on the day a green card with our contact details on. We run a range of community clinics, across Luton, Bedfordshire & Milton Keynes, that parents can book on to get their children vaccinated. If you have parents with any questions about the flu nasal spray, please do not hesitate to give them our office number (01234 310408).
