Update on School Reopening

The following letter has been sent to all parents:

Dear Parents/Carers

As you are aware the government has announced that schools may have permission to reopen from June 1st 2020. Our school will be open by June 8th for key worker children and those children in Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6, with children being invited to return in a phased manner from the 4th June 2020. There will be further information sent to you about this before school reopens.

I wanted to take this opportunity to express how delighted we will be to see your child in school, should you wish to take up their place. Staff in school will create an environment as near to normal as we can, while not compromising safety. We want you to know that your child’s safety and the safety of our staff is the most important thing.

Thank you for your responses to our parent surveys - we appreciate your comments and thoughts on school opening.

In your survey responses many of you expressed your concerns around social distancing and children being able to comply with this. While we will set expectations, we cannot guarantee that children will always be 2 metres apart. You also shared concerns around hygiene. With regards to this, hand washing will become an integral part the school day, and children will be asked to regularly wash their hands. We ask that you help us by teaching them the best ways to do this.

You will find our Infection Control Policy on the school website, and we ask that you read this, to fully understand how we intend to run school when it reopens. It complements the Parent guidelines we will be sending you.

Finally, we want to make it clear that the decision about your child returning to school is yours. If you are happy for them to return, then we very much look forward to seeing them. Please email or telephone the school office, so we know they are coming back. We need this information 48 hours before you wish to send your child, so we are able to safely provide for them and have the correct numbers of staff available. However, if you feel you are able to continue learning with your child/children at home and would prefer to do this with them, then please do. We will continue to provide resources for home learning, and respond to your queries via email.

Whatever you decide to do, we will support your decision. We cannot wait to have children back with us again, if that is what you want for them.
