CELEBRATING HARVEST 2020

Year 6 members of our Junior Chaplaincy Team led the school community in a Harvest Liturgy (assembly) on Thursday.

Seventeen children took a lead role, by gathering materials for display and reading in a whole-school gathering. This year, the assembly was 'broadcast' to all the classes in school using Teams (a video conferencing tool).

The children enjoyed signing the action to our first hymn, "Gather Together". This was followed by listening to Bible readings, a Litany of Thanksgiving and prayers for our community and world.

Focal points for the celebration were our Harvest displays. These have been created for both school sites and look good enough to eat! (See the photographs below.)

The nuns from the Benedictine Community at Turvey Abbey kindly donated our pumpkins this year - they were grown in their garden - along with photographs to show the children the growing process. Thank you, Sisters!

FOODBANK DONATIONS

This year, we are supporting the Bedford Food Bank as our Harvest charity.  Due to COVID 19, we have been unable to collect food in school this year.  As a result, we invited families to buy something when they went shopping and put them in the Food Bank basket, take a picture and send it to school. Below are a selection of the photographs received.
