Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of Lent.  This year it falls on Wednesday 2nd March.

 

Our school will be taking six inspirational words as a focus for Lent: Pray, Fast, Give, Faith, Pilgrimage and Vocation to inspire us to consider those less fortunate than ourselves.

 

Our chosen charity this year will be CAFOD, which supports vulnerable people across the world.  This year’s Lenten fundraising campaign is ‘Walk against Hunger’. 

 

We will begin our fundraising on Shrove Tuesday 2nd March with a Mufti Day.  Children can attend school wearing appropriate clothes of their choice.  We are asking for a £1 donation please.

 

We have also set up a Just Giving page, where you are able to make a donation, the link for this is below.  This could be to support your child walking to school every day for a week, or perhaps they might encourage the whole family to walk to the shops rather than use the car.  There will also be opportunities to walk around the school grounds during the school day. We appreciate any donation you are able to make.

Attached is a calendar for you to share with your child on their journey through Lent.  A paper copy of this will be sent home with your child this week.  On Ash Wednesday, there will be liturgy in school where a small mark of ashes will be offered to each child (placed on their forehead).
