Our school is committed to providing our children with a curriculum that is broad, well balanced and stimulates the children to learn. In addition to acquiring skills and knowledge we aim to help the children grow in confidence and maturity so that they can become lifelong learners who will be successful in the ever changing world.
We follow the 2014 National Curriculum and have built our curriculum around the core learning areas of English and Mathematics. We believe that these subjects are fundamental to the progress and development of children and that they give children the skills required for the rest of their lives.
We follow Read Write Inc Phonics and Literacy and Language, we believe these programmes of study equip our children with all the skills needed to be confident and fluent readers and writers.
As a school we teach Maths through Maths Mastery. Children encounter maths through a hands on approach and experience maths in context to embed and deepen their understanding.
As a catholic school, we endeavour to give the children opportunities to live out the gospel values through all aspects of school life; we follow the Come and See Religious Education programme of study which equips our children with knowledge and understanding of the catholic faith.
We also follow a creative-curricular approach to teaching the foundation subjects and believe it is of paramount importance that children experience all areas of learning, and therefore develop a love and curiosity of the world around them.
Please find below the curriculum details for each school year, including an overview of learning for each school year and a termly curriculum map. These detail the topic and aspects of the curriculum your child will be studying. They also offer parents a range of activities which will support your child’s learning in school.
