English Vision Statement
Our vision for English is that all children in our school have skills that they need to succeed in Reading and Writing throughout their lives. This would be supported by a love of reading and the children seeing themselves as authors. We use Rosenshine’s Principles to achieve this. As a school we are highly inclusive ensuring that we are meeting the needs of individual children in our English lessons. We use a range of books to enrich our English learning and to show our children the different types of book available to help them find the ones that speak to them!
We teach Early Reading using the Read Write Inc. Phonics programme to provide our children with a Systematic Synthetic Phonics approach which is appropriately sequenced and has decodable books.
