As well as taking part in the reading of the Liturgy, some of the team also performed scenes from the Gospel according to Matthew as it was read out loud, the Magi setting out on their journey to visit the infant Jesus. The worship included carols, accompanied on the piano by a music student in Year 5.

All the children in school used recycled bottles to create an outdoor poppy installation on the school path. We had two Remembrance Books on display, featuring the names of people who have died that the children, staff and their families wanted to be remembered.

CHAPLAINCY PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT (August / September 2018)
At the start of the school year, our Chaplaincy Lead drafted a development plan, which was amended and signed off by our head teacher and School Staff Chaplaincy Team, detailing the proposed foci for the year ahead. A ‘diary dates’ document was also written to ensure that key moments in the liturgical year were celebrated in school.
These two documents, with flexibility, direct our activities for the school year.
This year’s strategic foci are:
1. Spaces: Review of children’s prayer spaces on both sites.
2. Prayer: Teaching children across the school to pray for and with each other through the implementation
of a Prayer Pals / Buddies scheme. (See draft class resource provided.)
3. Profile: New creation of a school website page about the Junior Chaplaincy Team
4. Plot: Design and creation of a prayer garden (involving Gardening Club)
